Jesse used Golden Promise as the base malt, he thought Maris Otter might work better next time, Crystal 150, and a touch of chocolate malt for specialty malts. Target and Challenger hops for bittering, Challenger for flavor, and East Kent Goldings coming in at the end. This beer has a nice chocolate aroma and flavor, great malt character, and nicely bitter by British beer standards.

Notes
Grain and hops are based on an interview with the Fuller's head brewer and Fuller's parti-gyle notes. Pictures of Fuller's brew log: https://www.homebrewtalk.com/threads/fullers-recipes-for-esb-pride-chiswick-imperials-neipa-from-the-horses-mouth.642756/ The grain bill is the same percentages as noted here: https://www.homebrewtalk.com/threads/fullers-recipes-for-esb-pride-chiswick-imperials-neipa-from-the-horses-mouth.642756/#post-8183495
My homebrew store does not carry Northdown hops. Omitting those and adding .4 oz of Challenger to the bittering to boost the IBUs a bit.
Water additions were calculated using Bru'n Water Spreadsheet. |
