If it’s good beer at a small brewery that you’re after, then Smiling Toad should be right up your alley. This is their third location, and even though it’s a bigger space than the previous location, it’s still pretty small. Don’t let that deter you though, it’s a great space, with friendly staff, and really good beer.
Also, if you like IPAs, then this is the place for you. When we visited, they had 7 IPAs on tap!
UPDATE: As of March 6th, 2020, the ‘Toad’ is back in operation at their new (third) location.
The new space is large and, while giving a bit of the popular “industrial feel”, still inviting and comfortable. It has a large bar and plenty of seating.
On our last visit, they had a nice variety of beers on tap; a stout, a Belgian ale, a red and, of course, several IPAs.
(Older Info) According to a story in the Colorado Springs Independent, Smiling Toad is moving and expanding sometime this month. The new facility is going to have a 10 barrel system, but they will be using the current 3 barrel system for the first few months. The new location is expected to open in December, at the former Thirsty’s location on 2028 Sheldon Ave.
