I first went to Phantom Canyon shortly after I moved to Colorado Springs and eternity ago, and it was really neat to have craft brewed beer in a cool place to hang out. Of course, back then, brewery selections were pretty sparse.
Flash forward, and it’s still a great place to hang out with some friends. They have a full restaurant, quite a number of beers brewed in house, and the second flood has pool tables you can rent, as well as a full bar.
In the past I wasn’t wowed by the beer at Phantom Canyon, it wasn’t bad, just nothing to really write home about. They recently had a bit of a shakeup with their brewing staff, and now have a new head brewer. I don’t know if it was that, or just my imagination, but I think their beer is pretty darn good now.
I haven’t had the entire line up yet, but in the past, their flagship amber was a bit weak, and when we went there in January 2018 I sampled it again, and it was quite tasty, with a nice malt flavor to it. The other beers I had on that visit were also really pretty good.
I’ll have to make sure to visit again and sample some more of the beer options there.
