Irish Red (15A) Homebrew Recipe and Review
Mike and Jesse and are tasting Mike’s Homebrewed All Grain Irish Red. You can grab the recipe below.
The recipe was an homage to the one in Brewing Classic Styles, it was dinged for being a little too dark, and it scored a 41 at a recent homebrew competition. Mike prefers a bit more caramel and malt flavor in his Irish Reds, but according to the style it’s right in there.
Coming in at 4.2% ABV, it’s a really nice session beer, light, with a lot of flavor. Mike likes it in any season. Next time around Mike’s going to back off the barley a bit, and try for a longer boil in hopes of getting some caramelization.
You can find the recipe here.
