Local Relic

Brewing more than 200 beers per year, head brewer Grant Goodwiler will change how you think about seasonality and local sourcing , and may change how you approach beer in general!

Local Relic Website

Local Relic offers beers as unique and interesting as the building in which they are located. Formerly a church, now a catering venue and a taproom (for a different venture), the owners and staff not only keep the groovy vibe of being in a church, they seem to embrace it. You’d be forgiven for thinking this was still an active church if you gave it a casual glance from the street. On closer inspection, however, you notice that there are posters for upcoming music and comedy events stuck to the windows and doors. Certainly, once you enter the building, all doubt is removed.

While you are reminded of the past of the building by the large (dare I say, cavernous) room that was once where the congregation met for services, there is, at the same time, an intimate feel that puts one at ease and make you want to sit a spell and enjoy yourself.

Local Relic

Local Relic is one of only a few breweries in town that don’t have flagship beers, so their taps are always in flux. They offer flights of beers to allow customers to get a sample of as many of their offerings as possible, but only offer 11 oz. pours if you want something more than a taste. In addition to their beers on tap, they offer a good variety of them bottled as well.

There is food on site as well. The space is shared by Local Relic and Immerse Cuisine “…featuring upscale Colorado Cuisine without the white tablecloths or pretentiousness.” For what it’s worth, I’ve had a sampling for their food in the past is it was pretty amazing.

There’s also a large cellar room that can be used for hosting meetings, “corporate trainings, plated meals, and private parties”.
As an added bonus, it’s one of the few downtown breweries that doesn’t have a parking problem, they have a nice large lot with plenty of room.
