Fight Milk Stout
I like stout beers almost as much as I like IPAs. I have been avoiding them simply because if I let my lizard-brain take over when Mike and I went out, I would drink nothing but IPAs and stouts. Not to mention that it has been warm, now that the weather is getting cooler, I may fall into a stout-IPA-something-repeat habit.
Anyway… This was a good stout and definitely a milk stout. It was nicely creamy and was very smooth. Jerry did have a comment that was perfect for this beer, however. He said he wished it had a better “mouth feel”, something a little heavier. I agree with that, but I like my stouts to be thick enough to cut with a fork. I think that’s why I always feel that many of the stouts I try (this one included) would benefit mightily by being offered on nitro.
As I mentioned in the intro post for this week, all of the beers I tried had an odd, burnt finish to them. I tend to think it was a “”me” thing and not the beers since no one else noticed or mentioned it.
Bottom line, a good stout that I may or may not try again. I guess it would depend how many IPAs or on tap…
