Boris Russian Imperial Stout Bourbon whiskey barrel aged
10.2% ABV
18 IBU
4 SRM
I’ve started trying some heavier beers lately, beers that in the past I would have avoided, and this is one of the first Russian Imperial Stouts I’ve had before. One reason I generally avoided them is because I didn’t want to feel full, and I like having a couple of beers in session, so I try to stick to lower ABV beers when I go out. However, with sample size glasses and half pints available just about everywhere, I’ve started to order those for the bigger beers.
If you like a bourbon whiskey barrel aged Russian Imperial stout, then I recommend trying this one. For me however, there was way too much bourbon whiskey to it. That was pretty much all I tasted. I didn’t even finish my sampler because I’m not a fan of liquors. If that’s your thing though, please tell us what you thought of it.
As a disclaimer, I don’t know how well my nose was working on this trip. I couldn’t really pick up much in the way of aroma from most of the beers I tried. This beer may have had some delightful aromas to it, but I just didn’t get anything.
