Gold Camp Resilience IPA

This year, California experienced some of the worst wildfires in its history. Chico, California-based Sierra Nevada asked brewers from around the country to brew this beer and donate the proceeds from its sale to fire victim relief. Since I had heard about the idea I was keen on giving it a try. Coupling my love a good IPA with helping people, well, I can’t think of a much better combo.

I tend to not drink too much Sierra Nevada simply because I try to support local brewers, even when I’m buying in a liquor store or restaurant. However, I do seem to remember very much liking their beers when I’ve had them in the past, so I had high hopes. I was not disappointed. This was a classic, well-rounded IPA. It had a clean, crisp start and a not-too-hoppy finish. I was thinking that I would be able to drink a few of these until I remembered the ABV (6.8%)…
ABV: 6.8%
IBU: 70

There are several local brewers that agreed to brew Resilience. I hope to try as many of them as possible while supplies last. I don’t imagine that there are many opportunities to try the same recipe at different breweries too often. Besides Gold Camp, I believe the following breweries are offering Resilience; Cerberus, Atrevida, JAKs, and Local Relic. Stay tuned for another Resilience review next week.

Mike also tried this beer, so I’m sure he’ll have some input as well.

{Mike} I agree with Jesse, this was exactly what I expected. A classic, well brewed, Sierra Nevada style IPA. I’m a bit old school in that when I hear IPA, this is what I think of.

Doing good by drinking beer is a movement that I can fully get behind, and kudos to the local breweries that are taking a chunk out of their bottom line to support this effort.
