October’s Visit to Metric Brewing

We found ourselves back at Metric last week. No flag ship beers means that we have literally no idea what beers they have before we visit. This time I even checked the online beer list, and I must have caught it before it was updated, because it was waaayyy wrong. 🙂

This time, we had a whole crew with us. Jesse, Scott and I were there, but Jerry came along too, and he brought his brother and cousin, and good friend Dave.

Overall, I wasn’t as blown away as I normally am by the beers. Everything was pretty darn good, but I think it just wasn’t anything that fit my particular tastes so well.

I had “Forbidden Fruit”, and Imperial Pomegranate Pale Ale, “Lil Orphan Orange”, a citra wheat ale, “Uggs not Drugs”, a Pumpkin Spice Latte Amber. I also had “Mom Jeans” Raspberry Kolsch, and  Fight Milk Stout”. Jesse had a full pint of the last two, I’ll leave the review up to him for those and just chime in later.

Also, I have to say, I love Metric’s beer names. The little descriptions of the beers along with the unique names are really enjoyable.

One beer I only had a sip of was their Belgian Tripel “Pascal’s Treasure”, and I really wish I had gotten a full sample. First off, when it was brought over, the beer was so bright that if seems like it was glowing. A beautiful golden color, and clear as glass. It was really tasty too, but I think that you could strap a glass of this to your head and navigate mining tunnels.

Although I wasn’t knocked over by the beers this week, I’m sure we’ll be back soon.

Jesse Says:  I agree with everything Mike had to say about this visit to Metric.  As he mentioned, I had the Mom Jeans Raspberry Kölsch and the Fight Milk Stout and, while I liked them, I wasn’t as blown away by them as I was by the beers on our first visit (more on them in their posts).  Maybe the novelty has worn off?  Maybe they can hit home runs all the time?  Who knows?  I do have to mention that, for some reason, all of the beers I tried tonight had an odd finish to them..  Like a burnt honey flavor.  No one else seemed to notice, so I’m thinking that mt palate was off for some reason.

  • After you pointed it out, I could definitely pick out that flavor. Next time we go, I’ll have to look for it again.

    • I guess I was just whining about it too much to hear you. 🙂
I’m looking forward to the next trip.
