Brewjacket Review and Helles Tasting
Jesse got a new ‘toy’ for Christmas, a Brewjacket Immersion Pro, and decided to give it a test on a German Helles Exportbier. This spiffy device will cool or heat your fermenting beer to the desired fermentation temp for the best fermentation possible. Basically, one can, in theory, ferment a lager (or even a Belgian) without the use of a special fermentation chamber. In this episode we discuss the pros and cons of the system and let you decide if this would be something you’d find useful.
We also sample the aforementioned Helles Exportbier – Yellowjacket. It was fermented using the Brewjacket to keep it at ~55° F
There was a bit of a SNAFU with the carbonation of the beer, but it may have turned out OK in the end.
The recipe for the Helles can be found here
