Belgian Witbier
This recently revived classic wheat based style from the 14th century features orange zest and coriander as the main flavor components. A traditional witbier yeast completes this classic style.
I tend to be attracted to IPAs and with the popularity of them lately, I have a lot to choose from. But, this time, I thought I’d try something new and I’m glad I did.
I’m not very familiar with the Witbier style in technical terms, or at least I wasn’t. I know I’ve had them in the past, but this is the first time, I think, that I’ve had a reason to understand what a Witbier is.
It started with a strong, what I assume to be, coriander flavor and that stayed with me the whole time – no unpleasantly so. I didn’t get as much citrus as I was hoping for, but I wasn’t disappointed by that.
Overall, this was a very good beer. Clean and crisp, but not light.
